Step 7 - Applique Legs
Video ClipInstructions
- If you are working with overalls that do not have snaps on the legs (typically for babies), you will need to use a seam ripper and open the seam on the inside of the leg of the overalls. Use your seam ripper to remove the stitches that hold the legs together. Leave about 4 inches together in the crotch to help you close them up when you're finished the applique.
- To make the chalkboard, cut a piece of green fabric appropriately sized to the leg, Sew three parallel lines about 3 cm(1 inch) apart using white or light thread to represent lines on the chalkboard. Apply heat and bond to prepared chalkboard.
- Iron on and applique ABC Letters and Chalk board on legs.

- To avoid much frustration, I strongly recommend you open up the legs before appliquing pieces.
- Be sure to open up the INSIDE SEAM on the overalls not the outside seam. The outside seam is usually a double top stitched seam and difficult to sew back together.
